My Take On The Lammas Tea, from The Tea Witches Grimoire

Image
I have been so excited to go through the book A Tea Witch's Grimoire by S. M. Harlow, this has been one of the best books I have ever found for tea blending and for blending tisanes.  Sunday July 31st I set out to make myself the Lammas Tea recipe that is on pare 33. I think that every witch, kitchen, tea or hedge witch puts his or her, on touch or intention to every recipe and while I used the ingredients listed after I shopped, foraged and found the items listed, I in the end added my own touch, which as some honey bush tisane and some vanilla as well. While the recipe listed is absolutely perfect, I over looked picking up local honey, so I added my own sweet honey flavor with some of this south African bark. I purchased this book from Amazon, I am not an affiliate, just want to share for those who are like minded, or those looking for a great gift. This is a book I look at often and I just love. I cannot wait to make all the Sabbat Tea Recipes listed and so many more.  Click he

The Gift of Sight, and Managing Without It.

The universal messages can't be ignored I have learned time and time again. I want to say that I am getting better each day but I am struggling with being side lined at the moment. First I was in constant pain for more than a year because of a miss diagnosis to my right leg, which I have been trying to just deal with for the last year, come to find that it is a bone spur and nerve damage, and I am supposed to be off it for 6 weeks, had to leave my summer job. While having tea in my tea tent on Saturday of last as I sipped my tea it looked like I witnessed a  bloody crime scene in my left eye, realizing that what was happening I went to get it looked at to learn that I have a hemorrhage behind my left eye, and now a blood clot. 6 weeks for that one to heal as well and my vision is less than agreeable in anyway at the moment.  I had hoped to host a tea with friends, my first since the pandemic started for Lammas, however the universe has me staying put, also to add a bit of insult

Thursday Thrift Store Finds, A special set...

Today would have been my fathers 69th birthday. He passed away in his 65th year of life. My mother passed in 2010 and my brother a couple of years later. It's a tough day for me emotionally but this particular cup and its matching Mother cup is a story worth sharing. On the morning we were going to intern my parents and my brothers remains at the memorial gardens, my family met for breakfast near one of my favorite used china stores, I wanted to be anywhere but where I was that day and took a me moment for myself before entering the restaurant, and detoured to the china shop. Sitting on the first shelf I saw was a matching Mother and Dad cups, i knew it was meant to be and quickly purchased them and headed to breakfast, my personal sign from the universe I guess. But I do treasure these sets.  These simple but poignant tea sets, are among my most treasured sets. I use them on my parents birthdays, days of passing and mothers and fathers day.  I do take simple pleasures in just usin

Anxiously Awaiting Autumn

Image
Welcome to a new Monday and to you for being here. I am honestly struggling with summer as i know many do, heat and humidity are not this witches friend. I am truly looking forward to my most favorite season of autumn. For me the closer we get to August the better. I am chomping at the bit to bring out my fall items but will hold off until after Lammas.   Not sure if you have seen the Little Miss/Mister memes that are going around but I personally loved and got excited when I saw them, I related a bit too much to this one. I do love Rae Dunn, and the fall items have been arriving daily. I want to bring out the mugs so badly.  This meme I found yesterday accurately sums up how I am feeling, with our temperatures soring this week and my desire for fall. I apologize to all those who love summer. Since childhood fall has always been my favorite, I love the rain, the dark, the colors of fall. I am longing for the crisp leaves and the shorter days. Not to mention back to school. I love bein

Welcome To My Tea Tent 2022...

Image
Quite proud of myself, it has been at least 4 years since I have been able to open my tea tent, this is number 4 in the world of my tea tents. years ago a good friend gifted me the most amazing high-end tea tent which was lost in a freak early snow storm, something Vancouver rarely gets. i hosted so many daily tea parties and in my memories on Thursday was a touching memory that motivated me to track down the tent you see above. This was so very many years ago, eight if I am not mistaken and some of my nieces shown above are grown and living all over the world. This memory made me realize that while 6 of my nieces are currently touring France (oh and one nephew), I can still make new memories in my own way in a tea tent. This very simple tent I purchased on facebook Markent Place three years ago and other than lending it to a friend I had yet to put it up. I started putting it up in the yard alone and divine timing had my adult son, walking by from the gym, he being over 6 feet tall

On Loss And Heart Ache, a Pandemic Tale...

Image
So many years ago I took this photo of my Old Country Roses tea set, which I use in times that I feel I need extra strength, I saw it in my Facebook memories a week ago and it seemed perfect even today. Back then I had a very successful doll blog and I went by Karen Mom of Three (It is a doll craft blog that I have since stopped writing). Even though we are now about three years into this pandemic and I have lost count of which wave we are currently on here in BC, Canada, the fear and the anxiety of post pandemic life is still something I am at least, struggling with.  The concept of staying home to stay safe is one I fully got behind. Having medically sensitive family members made that decision easy. Before the pandemic, I had weekly tea parties, I worked in a tea shop and surrounded myself with the amazing magick that is all things tea. That was 2019-2020, now in 2022 I long for my tea party days, surrounding myself with friends and like minded tea lovers, however I find that that

Thursday Thrift Store Finds- Silver BIrch...

Image
I do love the hunt, finding and using vintage teacups and saucers daily is the thrill for me.  Here are 100 different cups and saucers from my personal collection, photo I took and shared with my classes for our 100 day of school slide show. Each of these tea cups gets used an awful lot in my house and most days I use at least two.  This particular teacup and saucer I am showcasing today is a Royal Albert Silver Birch, I started to collect it when I found it in a second hand shop for $5.99 about 5 years ago, I have nick named this set my midlife crisis china as I have been picking up pieces of it whenever I can. It has a lovely scene of birch trees and flowers, reminding me of my grandparents cottage in Arundel, Quebec, on a lake called Bevan. Memories of these silver birch trees stick with me to this days.  As I type todays post I am sipping a lovely tisane out of this very cup. These cups go for about $20 now in thrift stores near me but you can find them on Etsy for up to $165! Th

Autumn In The Wizarding World Cross Stich Kit

Image
Back in May I found the courage and inspiration to order and try a new to me craft. I have never done cross stitch but found that when my beloved sister in law was here and she was plugging away at hers, there was an aura of calm and serene that exuded from her as she stitched away. One night in May we were messaging about crafting and I sent her the amazon link to this cross stich and asked her if she though I could do it, she said it would be easy. When it arrived I opened it, immediately felt intimidated by the entire other language it seemed to be written in and panicked. I messaged my sister in law and admitted defeat for the night, put it away and thought I will tackle it when school ends. I packed it to take to Nanaimo with me where I was going to have time to decompress and give it a go. Then when I was packing the car, I left the bag with it and my tea items in the living room of my house and drove to the ferry... I only realized the next morning. A few days ago, sidelined w

Working On Some Small Sea Goddess Dolls...

Image
I have been working on some tiny Sea Goddess dolls, these will be for Yule. I have made them about half the size of my regular dolls and I am very excited with how they have turned out. I also will me making more I have just got to go forage for some new tiny drift wood.  Making these little witch and goddess dolls brings me so much joy. I hope that in sharing them you feel it too. Blessed Be.

The Witch Basket Bath Products I bought at Phoenix Rising in Langley BC

Image
Last week I went out to a wonderful store called Phoenix Rising in Langley BC.  Though it is about an hour away from where I live it is so worth the drive. I bought myself some "Cottage Witch" Witch Dust Bubble Bath and I am so glad that I did.  The line of products that the store carried was impressive and i had to hold back. I was drawn to the SEA WITCH first but the scent of the COTTAGE WITCH was the one that ultimately came home. I sprinkled the smallest amount of this in my tub and I was so impressed by the amount of bubbles and the way it made me feel. This is a line of products I am sure to buy again and to learn more about the company that produces it called THE WITCH BASKET please click here.   I was thrilled to learn that this is a local company and the fact that this is First Nations owned made it even more sweet.  Blessed Be and thank you for joining me.

Foraging On The Full Moon For Tisanes And Bath Ingredients

Image
The Full Buck Moon was Wednesday and I was able to do something I have wanted to do for a while now and that is forage for some flowers, herbs and even weeds that I can use in my personal tea bending. My morning tea photo on Wednesday shown above, a rescued teacup I love and the only one I have that is a Spencer Stevenson black and white animal and cloud set that I found in 2016 at a thrift store. I played $11.99 for it if I remember correctly, but it was so witchy I could not leave it behind.   A friend of mine has an enchanted back yard and possessed knowledge of plants, that is second to none. she and I wandered through her yard in the hot summer sun and she kindly cut me some much desired items for my tisanes and for my apothecary.  Tarragon, Chickweed, Calendula, Ladies Mantle, Borage and red clover and fennel are now drying over my tea table.    I added mint and orange mint from my own garden when I got home. In the photo I am using the curtain rod in my living room with some M

Thursday Thrift Store Fun Finds

Image
This week I wanted  to start a Thursday feature I will call Thursday Thrift store finds. Now this weeks gem is a true favorite of mine found at a local Salvation Army store. I found this Royal Albert Treasure Chest Series beauty about 5 years ago now.  One of the things I like most about this beautiful set is the color, there is something very regal feeling about a dark blue and gold teacup. While I do collect teacups, I use them, daily, often more than one a day and they bring me such joy. My cupboards are over flowing with treasures to share so I hope you will join me for more of these Thursday Thrift Store Fun Finds.

Summer Full Moon Tonight, Preparing a Moon Bath

Image
The full summer buck Moon is tonight, and I took out my Moon Bath book by Dakota Hills and Sierra Brashear. This book is one that I was thrilled to preview years ago on NetGalley and I loved it so much in the digital copy that I knew I wanted to have the hard cover book for my shelves. I guess I am old fashioned that way. This is an inspiring book of baths, recipes and lore.  As I prepare my bath recipe and brose through the book I keep getting inspired by what I read. Pairing my herbal current favorite tea a chamomile, vanilla and honey Twining's London tea. You may notice in the photo that I have a green silk bag, this is for the petals if you don't want them floating down the drain, I like to float mine loose but the bag does help to collect them before they go down with the draining water. I love that there are pages of sayings that make you pause and help you to breathe and stay in the moment.  The recipe I am using is the Summer Full Moon recipe and I am adding a few of

On My Tea Table This Week, A Tea Witch's Grimoire by S.M.Harlow

Image
On my table this week is a book I learned about a few weeks back through Instagram called A Tea Witch's Grimoire by S.M.Harlow. I ordered it straight away on Amazon.com because in my excitement in clicking through I ended up on the USA Site. You can find it on the Canadian link here for far less then I paid (I had to pay exchange rate and shipping) Again I am not an amazon affiliate, just a really great book. Going through the book and absorbing the recipes for these tisanes and for potions even. I am blown away by how much information is contained in this book. My favorite section so far is the Sabbat teas, followed closely by the Moon and Horoscope Teas.  I cant wait to make the full moon tea tomorrow for the Buck Moon. I just need to make sure I have the chickweed and coconut milk, it already sounds amazing! Blessed Be.
